Mr. Kaplan directed by Alvaro Brechner (Uruguay, Germany, Spain) 2014 is about a man nearing the end of life.
Despite the grand expectations alluded to during his bar mitzvah decades earlier he considers himself a failure.
However, a remark by his youngest child inspires him to undertake a bold, heroic mission he believes will redeem his reputation in society.
The man he chooses to help him is a different kind of failure. Their joint venture is extremely serious but includes plenty of comic blunders.
It screens a final time Friday 7 August 2015 at Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael as part of San Francisco Jewish Film Festival 35.
